The National Veterans Art Museum’s Artist Fellowship accepted applications for the 2027 cycle through April 1, 2026. The Fellowship is open to practicing artists who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
According to NVAM, the Fellowship “creates meaningful spaces for connection between artists who served in the United States Armed Services and the public.” The program focuses on personal and professional development, with Fellows matched with artists and arts educators — both veteran and non-veteran — to guide their work and growth.
Fellows receive between $3,000 and $30,000 worth of resources based on need, to develop a workshop and an exhibition. The Fellowship culminates in a public exhibition at NVAM in Chicago.
NVAM also notes that the Fellowship connects artists to communities, with Fellows’ work entering the museum’s permanent collection.
The current 2025 NVAM Artist Fellow is Jenn Hassin, a U.S. Air Force veteran whose exhibition at NVAM closes with a reception on June 13, 2026. Applications for the next Fellowship cycle open November 1, 2026.
