The National Veterans Art Museum has opened an exhibition at the Harold Washington Library Center in Chicago, located at 400 S. State Street, opening February 27, 2026. The exhibition features reproductions from NVAM’s permanent collection, presented in collaboration to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
According to NVAM, the exhibition “honors the voices of those who served, as told by veterans in their own voice through their own artwork.”
The exhibition also includes “58,320,” created by artist Rick Steinbock and NVAM’s founding veteran artists Ned Broderick, Joe Fornelli, and Mike Helbing. The installation features 58,320 hand-stamped dog tags, one for every U.S. service member lost in Vietnam. It is described by NVAM as the only memorial outside of Maya Lin’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial to bear every name.
The Harold Washington Library Center exhibition is free and open to the public.
