The 2026 Veteran Art Triennial and Summit, titled “Resisting the Long Wars,” has opened across multiple Chicago venues. The Triennial is organized by curators Aaron Hughes, Mohamed Mehdi, Meranda Roberts, and Amber Zora.
Participating venues include the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago Cultural Center, and Elmhurst Art Museum. The Hyde Park Art Center’s chapter is titled “Shifting Horizons” and is described as considering “land, migration, and decolonization.”
According to the Hyde Park Art Center, the Triennial “highlights artists’ creative defiance of war and militarism.”
The Triennial is organized in partnership with the Veteran Art Movement and Walls Turned Sideways. The 2026 edition is the third Veteran Art Triennial, following previous editions in 2019 and 2023.
