DEMIL Art Fund Announces 2025 Cohort of Veteran Artists

The DEMIL Art Fund, which supports veteran artists whose work examines and challenges militarism and its consequences, announced its 2025 cohort through the Veteran Art Movement’s eVAM Blog. The 2025 cohort includes artists Hanaa Malallah, Charlie Reynolds, and Gregory Rick.
According to the eVAM Blog, “each brings a unique voice and rigorous practice that challenges dominant narratives about war, displacement, identity, and history — deepening DEMIL’s mission to support artists dismantling militarism through creative practice.”
The Fund has supported nine artists with grants over the past year across multiple cohort announcements. Previous cohorts have been announced on Armistice Day and Memorial Day.
The Fall 2024 cohort included William Chan, Ruth Kaneko (Kanaka Wahine), and Meranda Roberts (Yerington Paiute). The Spring 2024 cohort included Eric J. Garcia, Maura García (non-enrolled Cherokee/Mattamuskeet), and Carlos Sirah.
The DEMIL Art Fund is part of the broader Veteran Art Movement, which organizes the Veteran Art Triennial and supports critical veteran creative practice.
