Jenn Hassin Returns to Chicago for Paper-Making Workshop at NVAM

2025 NVAM Artist Fellow Jenn Hassin returned to Chicago to share her artistic practice with the community, leading a hands-on weekend of paper-making at the National Veterans Art Museum.
According to NVAM, the event invited participants to explore “the art of paper-making with this accomplished veteran artist.”
Hassin’s practice centers on transforming military uniforms and other meaningful materials into handmade paper. The process of transformation — taking donated uniforms and reconstituting them into new material — is central to her artistic approach.
Hassin’s solo exhibition at NVAM, which spans a decade of work, closes with a reception on June 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the museum’s location at 4041 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago. The exhibition traces what NVAM describes as “suffering, memory and resilience through the transformation of material across 27 mixed media pieces including ceramics.”
